STEAMhouse is a new centre for innovation, research and creative production.
STEAMhouse is a new centre for innovation, research and creative production, a space where the arts and design come together with digital technologies, engineering and science, bringing together the ‘artist’ and the ‘engineer’ to create new opportunities to work, think and innovate together.
STEAMhouse Phase 1 opens on Digbeth High Street in April 2018 and houses the Production Space – a well-equipped makerspace with staff and facilities to support production in digital, print, wood and metal, alongside project, event and co-working spaces.
Working with the Research, Innovation and Enterprise team at Birmingham City University, Ruth Claxton and Alessandro Columbano have led the development of the STEAMhouse Production Space, building from our original research and proposal.
Created by Birmingham City University in partnership with Eastside Projects, and funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Arts Council England, STEAMhouse is open to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises working in four growth sectors – Creative & Digital, Advanced Manufacturing, Health & Life Sciences and Low Carbon.
